Climate Change Journalists Club (CCJC) is a public welfare network composed of Chinese journalists and climate/energy-related professionals aimed at improving journalism related to climate change, enhancing professional quality, and promoting peer communications. It is extended from the existing facilities of China Science Reporting Network (CSRN).
Based on Climate Change Media Online (http://www.climatereporting.cn), CCJC is involved in organizing the following activities:
(1) Posting important news clues and relevant academic conference information in the Climate Change Media Online (CCMO) website.
(2) Disseminating related information of science journalism industry through the CCMO’ website;
(3) Organising field interviews in hotspot regions related to climate change;
(4) Facilitating online exchanges on key climate topics and science clues and organizing discussion and debates on responsible journalism related to climate change;
(5) Cooperating with other agencies to develop professional training and advance the professional abilities and working capabilities for the members and other journalists;
(6) Organizing regular communications and discussions between journalists and between journalists and relevant scientists, PIOs and industry people; spreading information such as grants, training, prize, jobs, book reviews and comments related to the climate reporting fields.
(7) Organizing academic communication between Chinese journalists and their foreign colleagues.
Climate Change Journalist Club welcomes the involvement of journalists reporting climate and low-carbon economy, editors, commentators, experts supporting the work in the area, and PIOs of related industries. Membership is personal behavior and has no relationship with his/her organization.
Climate Change Journalist Club has been supported by media, academia, industry, international organization and NGOs. Heinrich Boell Foundation has supported the offline activities of CCJC, especially the field interviews; British Council China (Cultural and Education Section, British Embassy) has supported the establishment and maintenance of the CCMO website, surveys related to improve reporting quality, and compiling a climate change reporting handbook.
